Large, emotional,
and unserved by fintech

Fintech has verticalised almost everything: freelancers, restaurants, teenagers, gamers. In Europe, it has not verticalised pets.

The product

A complete financial product.
Verticalised on one category.

Fourteen screens, already built. Everything you expect from a modern financial product — plus the one category none of them has ever indexed.

Named pet card

A Mastercard carrying your pet's name. Virtual from day one, physical on the paid tier — the reason people show it to other people.

Cashback network

Commission earned on referral purchases at partner businesses is split with the user as cashback. The user chooses where their half goes: wallet balance or a shelter.

Shelter donations

Every activated card carries a donation option on its cashback to a founding shelter partner. Shelters hold their own account — the cashback is transferred directly to them, never held by us.

Instant transfers

SEPA transfers between users and to listed pet businesses — vets, groomers, sitters — settled from the app.

Pet spend analytics

Full-screen breakdown of what your pet actually costs: food, health, grooming, insurance — categorised automatically.

Partner directory

A searchable map of pet businesses that accept the card and take part in the referral programme. Directory and payment rail, not a marketplace.

Architecture

Licensed-partner model —
fast, compliant, scalable

Nice To Pet U operates as a distribution partner under the French EMI licence of an authorised Electronic Money Institution, supervised by the ACPR and passported across the EEA. It is the same architecture behind most European fintech products.

  • No banking licence to obtain — operational in months, not years, with no capital requirement
  • The EMI holds the licence and safeguards client funds, segregated at a tier-1 European bank
  • We own the product — interface, customer relationship, pet data, commercial model
  • The EMI operates the plumbing — KYC and AML, Mastercard scheme membership, regulatory reporting
  • One licence, EEA-wide — 30 countries reachable without a second authorisation
  • Subscription revenue from day one — the model does not depend on how much anyone spends
  • The pet layer is ours alone — profiles, named cards, categorisation, shelter network: not replicable by switching provider
We hold no funds: no deposits, no lending, no custody. Money moves between accounts held at the licensed institution, including the shelters'. The trade is a ceiling — no lending, no interest income — and that ceiling is what makes a licensed acquirer want this.

Timeline

Three phases,
from build to scale

The application and the regulated plumbing behind it exist and run in a sandbox. Everything the directory, the business tier and multi-market reach depend on happens at launch, not later.

Phase 1 · Build · Months 1–6

Foundation and regulated setup

  • NTPU B.V. incorporated — done
  • 14 screens designed and built — done
  • Provider sandbox integrated — done
  • Provider agreement signed
  • Backend schema, KYC flow, token exchange
  • IBAN and virtual card live
  • Founding shelters and pet businesses onboarded
  • Private beta
Phase 2 · Launch · Year 1 · Seed

Public launch, all four tiers

  • App Store and Google Play release
  • Physical named pet cards issued
  • All four tiers live, business included
  • Partner directory open across launch markets
  • Referral network live: shelters, walkers, sitters, groomers, vets, communities, creators
  • Multi-market from day one under the EEA passport
  • Target: 40,000 active users · 2,800 paying
Phase 3 · Scale · Year 2–3 · Series A and B

Density, depth, expansion

  • Directory scales into a paid two-sided network
  • Referral engine at volume, blended CAC falling
  • Deeper EEA coverage and local IBANs
  • Series A, then Series B
  • Year 2: 250,000 active users · 20,000 paying
  • Year 3: 1,000,000 active users · 90,000 paying
Plans

Free to enter.
Paid to benefit.

A feature wall, not a free trial. The free tier exists to build the base and prove engagement; it is funded by the raise, not by interchange. Annual billing is offered at a discount because it is the single strongest lever on churn.

The only difference between Standard and Premium is the physical card. Business pricing is set at the European neobank floor — Qonto opens at €9 a month, Revolut Business at €7 — because the supply side is an acquisition channel before it is a revenue line.
Distribution

The acquisition budget
becomes income for the network

Every neobank pays to acquire a user. Revolut, Monzo and N26 proved that paying the customer beats paying the ad platform. We take the same budget and route it through the people who already hold the relationship with pet owners — and everyone in the chain earns from it.

  • Shelters earn on every activated account, on top of the cashback their supporters redirect to them
  • Dog walkers, sitters, groomers and vets earn on the customers they already serve
  • Pet communities and creators get a tracked link and a per-activation rate
  • Pet owners earn on friends they bring in, in wallet credit or as a shelter donation
  • We pay only on activation — a controlled cost per effective user, not per impression
Referral acquisition is why blended CAC is modelled to fall from €75 to €50 while the sector benchmark sits at €37.50 on paid-led acquisition. We spend more per user than an ad-led model and buy a better one: referred users arrive with a reason to stay.
Financials

Base scenario,
three years

The product is built and the entity is incorporated. Year 1 · Seed begins at regulated launch, six months from close.

Pre-Seed
€400,000 · 10% equity

6 months to regulated launch: backend and KYC build, provider integration, legal & compliance, card issuing.

Year 1 · Seed
€530K · 40,000 users

Go-to-market. 7% paid conversion, 2,800 paying subscribers. Blended CAC €75, referral-led.

Year 2 · Series A
€3.8M · 250,000 users

8% conversion, 20,000 paying subscribers. Blended CAC €60 as referral displaces paid acquisition.

Year 3 · Series B
€16.9M · 1,000,000 users

9% conversion, 90,000 paying subscribers. Blended CAC €50. EU-wide expansion.

Valuation reference is a proposed term, not a transacted price. The €400K pre-seed funds Year 1 · Seed; the trajectory above assumes subsequent financings and dilution accordingly. Conversion of 7–9% sits above Monzo's 7.4% consumer rate and below the 12% European pet insurance penetration. CAC is modelled to fall from €75 to €50 as referral acquisition displaces paid; the sector benchmark is €37.50 at Monzo, paid-led. Provider fees per card and per account are not yet contracted and are the largest open variable in the cost base.
